AnimeloMix Radio StrikerS episode 1

Nina.Wolken's picture

As it had been announced on Nanoha The Movie 1st website at the end of september, the first episode of the Radio show for the promotion of 1st Movie aired the 12 of this month and was available on NicoNico yesterday.

The host for the show is Mikako Takahashi, Chrono and Caro seiyuu. For this first episode, the guest is none other that Yukarin herself (thought, her voice during most of the show is far from the one she takes when dubbing Nanoha).

The 26 minutes of the episode is divided in 2 main parts or games if you prefer.
First, Lyrical Memorial : Mikako ask various questions to Yukarin concerning the different MSLN series. She then gives an answer and then review it together.

The five questions Yukarin has to answer :
- How old was Nanoha at the beginning of the first serie?
- Who was the one who introduced her to magic?
- What is the name of the one she was destined (by fate) to meet in the 1st serie?
- If you cumulate all the series existing, how many episodes of Nanoha do you get?
- If you had to pick one sentence from Nanoha, what would that be?

After comes the Shuffle Challenge :
Basically, Mikako and Yukarin have to reproduce a scene of the 1st episode from Nanoha A's, by voicing Vita, Zafira and Graph Eisen.
Yukarin draws Vita and Graph Eisen, then Mikako has to voice Zafira, much to her own despair. The best part for me was without doubt when Yukarin tried to speak German. At first she just skipped Graph Eisen part, but Mikako noticed it and made her say her line, which was priceless to say the least. Has Mikako says : "It sounds painful!".
After this first try, both seiyuu have to re-voice the scene again, but with further handicaps : Yukarin has to sing when saying her text and Mikako has to sound like a cat.
That last was utterly stupid, but sooo funny at the same time. Yukarin herself confess that she is happy that the show ends so quickly, because she really felt foolish.

Next episode Mikako will receive Fate (Nana-chan) as her guest, then it will be Arf seiyuu and finally Vita seiyuu.

One may wonder why I decided to make a post about that first episode, since obviously we don't get much information about the Movie during those 26 minutes and that except for a good laugh it doesn't give much to the fans.
The answer lies in the first part of the show (Lyrical Memorial). When Yukarin is asked what sentence from Nanoha is the more memorable/meaningful to her, she has some trouble to answer and after much pondering she simply says : "Come back home quickly~ Darling☆".
Answer to which the staff react pretty negatively lol. Tsuzuki, who attends the recording of the radio show seems to make a big cross with his arms to show that the answer is not correct (he knows Yukarin well lol).
Indeed, during the review of her answers by Mikako, Yukarin adds that the sentence she picked earlier ("Come back home quickly~") was destined to Fate-chan. There I could totally picture Tsuzuki facepalm : "OMG! She didi it again!".
The way Yukarin says that just crack me up. She really sounds like if it was the most obvious thing and she looks like she doesn't give a damn of the shock reaction of the other staff members. Way to go Yukarin!
Mikako notes that when she says "Come back home quickly", she looks like a wife greeting her husband. Yukari approves completely, but both decide to stop here, saying that "Some people don't know yet!".

Of course, one could interprete that part as being just an harmless joke between seiyuus, but for me it sounds like another proof of Yukarin support of N/F. That's not the first time she takes such an initiative. I can't have enough of that :3.

The track fro AnimeloMix Radio StrikerS episode 1 is available here for dl or if you have a NicoNico account, this way. Enjoy~

Yeah thanks a bunch! I myself have been too busy recently to check these sites out. I'm glad I have a dedicated site to consolidate all the information hehe. Handing out tests for my students and correcting them takes time so I miss out on a lot. Thanks Nina ^.^

What? So that means I'm not the only teacher on this site. That's some kind of consolation, but I still fear that some day I'm gonna meet one of my students lurking sites like these.

ps: correcting tests is a pain. I feel you.

We're kind of lacking of active translators now, any help would be appreciated, but it's good enough to have you as an active user in this page, so thanks for your constant participation and good luck with your work ^^

I'm also quite excited about Nana's "interview". I hope she will follow Yukarin path and take on Fate-papa role ;).
But I noticed that usually she is a bit more reserve than Yukarin, so my expectations are not that high.

As for when will air the next episode, I think it still unknown. I didn't pay much attention to the various announcements at the end of teh first episode, but I didn't catch any date for episode 2 and it doesn't appear on the official website either...

Thanks a lot for the summary Nina, this is really helpful since this is exactly the kind of thing that is missed outside of Japan.

How there can be people who doesn't know yet? xD Tsuzuki, if you're not careful you're going to be replaced by Yukarin and Nana-chan as writers, so next time I hope you don't say "not yet" again xD

I hope we see something similar from Nana/Fate in the next radio episode. Is it aired the next week?

Ans in case that someone missed it, here's more from Yukarin and Nana-chan:

Why are they still pussyfooting around with this? It seemed that the Drama CD's put out at Comiket pretty much should have decided the Nano/Fate relationship thing for good. What did I miss?

Probably because they don't want to piss off the other shipping factions, as always (I don't know the popularity of the other "ships", so it's just a theory), since even if NanoFAte is more and more assumed each time (and it became REALLY HARD to not see it), there are still people who reduce it as something fans "making it going really out of proportions" (in other words, "crazy deluded shipping which exist only in the dreams of rabid fanboys"), because NanoFate as not been confirmed officialy, so for them it doesn't exist (it's the words of Saint Thomas put to its extreme: "I only believe what I can see"), even if we could see it is as close to official as it could, it is still "unofficialy confirmed" (this is how I see it).

I don't think that there are any other shipping factions, or at least not anything considerable in Japan seeing that in the usual places I haven't find any artists supporting other pairings involving Nanoha and Fate this year. The ones who used to do this seem to be working for other series now, maybe because when you're in Japan is hard to ignore things like the Movie Drama CD and the mangas.

It is a theory of mine, but even I don't put much credence in it.
For all I know, most "ships" have sunk years ago, but it's sure Japanese people are more in the know than us, western people on the subject, after all they are the original target of the franchise.
Besides one place (AnimeSuki) or two, there's no real factions besides our favorite ones (well, if you take apart the crazy ships, but they're just for fun), to put it mildly, only blind-deaf people can not see there is something between the two (I'm not a yuri fan per se (but I like yuri nonetheless), almost all of the couple I like are hetero ones, but even I can see the obvious, I "ship" only "real" couple who have evidence, I'm not the kind who ship just because I think A&B could be cute together (as a former History student, objectivity is my motto, and I stick to it).
After much thinking and search through all the elements I could (Soundstages, Official Artworks, the Series, Translated Articles), I came to the conclusion that NanoFate was not a delusion invented by fanboys, but something the creators deliberately put in their works, it's undeniable.

Another theory of mine (I have a whole fleet of theories), is that Tsuzuki and the staff don't want NanoFate to be confirmed because they want to confirm it when they will end the franchise, confirming it earlier would possibly kill the interest of the fans (after all, lots of series died before their age because the creators officialised the pairings too early).

I agree with you in everything, langrisser, except for one thing: In my opinion I don't think that "confirming" anything will produce or is producing a decrement in the interest of the fans for the series.

As I see it, as more official material of this series is being released, we're reaching the point that the romantic nature of Nanoha and Fate's relationship is more and more blatant and hardly deniable, and for more people it's becoming something "confirmed" as time pases. But I think that this doesn't necessarily produces a lack of interest, because there are much more about about Nanoha and Fate that how or when they got together, for example they living as a mature couple and having a family life seems like a very attractive point, which is being portrayed in the latest official material and seems to be having a lot of success with the fans.

Also in a way this is different to what we usually see in other series (let alone yuri), where most time we don't get a focus in what happens with a couple after they get together. For Nanoha, we have lots of fanarts, fanfics and doujinshis that make use this subject (and pretty good ones if I may add!), even Vivid is giving their family life an important focus, so I think that this is something that is working well and personally I appreciate a lot ^^

I agree with you Haru, and I love to see the family life of the Takamachi Family, but even so, maybe the execs are afraid if it is officialy confirmed, that they might lose fans, they use a cautious approach to limit the possible risk, be it real or not.

I also agree on the fact it is more and more difficult to disagree on NanoFate, as I said, only blind and deaf people could not see there's something.
In fact, I have recently seen a discussion about it on another forum, the argument boiled down to "NanoFate is official" vs. "Thing blowed out of proportion by the fans" (it was their only argument without an explanation of why it is blowed out of proportions).

It's also true NanoFate is different from most couple were getting them together is the end in itself, because unlike most couple, they became a family (I think the introduction of Vivio is the key factor in this, trasforming them from couple to family).

The way I see the creators about NanoFate is like a spiral; they slowly approach the confirmation, they turn around, but they inevitably had to confirm it.

I don't need personally an official confirmation spelled in big letters for me to accept NanoFate (tought it would be appreciated), some of my favourite couples were not officialy confirmed, the series in itself were explicit enough, and the staff deemed the fans were smart enough to do the math by themselves, and nobody argued against this (see Macross or Kimagure Orange Road for exemple, all is implicit).
But if Fate was a boy instead of girl, and I'm not the first one to say that, there wouldn't be any objection of them being a couple, I'll bet my head on it.

To conclude my tl;dr, since 2-3 months ago, I have never this much fans saying NanoFate is canon, it's really impressive.

I like the part where Nana says "Nanoha, Nanoha, Nanoha, It's Nanoha, I love Nanoha".
She says that part during the first question at the 4.57 mark.
Then the interviewer makes the remark that both Yukarin and Nana interrupted them during the first question. Very funny episode over all. Nana imitating raising heart was super funny, especially when she said "Acceleration Mode"

These Radio shows made me crack...

Especially the one with Nana Mizuki XD

She was being asked a question... I think it had something to do with identifying Nanoha... and then she goes "Nanoha, Nanoha, Nanoha my beloved Nanoha~!" Something like that XD

YukaNana anyone? XD

"Come back home quickly~ Darling☆".

Lindy says this. First season, the episode where Chrono is going to teleport down to stop Nanoha and Fates fight in the park. And she waves her hanky at him...
