The whole final battle. Yes. Not the entire movie. There is about 30+minutes I've yet to watch.

The time of 2h 30mins is probably from the fact that the theaters in Japan slotted the Nanoha Movie in blocks of 2h 45mins.

I recall my attempts at seeing the movie in theaters, and the theater I was hitting up had opening times at 1630 and 1915.

The theater admits watchers 15 prior to actual start, so that brings it down to 2h 30min.

But I guess they forgot the theaters also reserve time for cleaning and stuff after, which is like another 15min; so the movie isn't any longer than 2h 15min, and that's including watching the credit to the end, as well as the announcement they make at the beginning about not making camrips...(The credits are like 5 min, the announcement like 1 min.)

I didn't intended to watch the cam-rip because I didn't want to spoil my fun if I got the chance to watch it on big screen one day, but my resolve faded. And ... what a wonderful movie! It moved me to the verge of tears in several occasions ;-;.
Battles sure are impressive but even more, Nanoha and Fate story completely blew my mind.
The Nanoha/Fate interaction was what made me love the serie originally and here, their "quest" to become friends (if not more), is like 10 times more powerful. Nanoha's willingness, her quasi "need", to get close to Fate and befriended her was faaaar beyond what we got in season 1 and even beyond what I expected.
Fate for her part, being more expressive than before also helped to make the movie truly moving.
Now if I had to complain...

Spoiler:
I regret we don't see Nanoha grab Fate's hand in the Garden of Time. Arf saves Fate instead and then everyone teleport back to Ashura when in the anime that's the point where Fate "accepts" Nanoha. It's not much of a change since in the Movie the point when Fate "accepts" Nanoha is when she begins to fight along side her in the Garden of Time, but I personally liked the scene of "grab my hand" and was waiting for it...in vain lol.
Also, and here I know it was too much to hope for, where is my kiss on the bridge? XD It would have been perfect! The way Nanoha jumps on Fate, crying and then looks up at her, with Fate looking down at her in return ( ≡▽≡). The whole scene simply screams : Kiss Time!
Maybe if those two had been a bit older~

But even though, the move deserves a firm 10/10!

Sounds like the movie is a real masterpiece, truly worthy of the wait, I'm sure I won't be deceived when it'll finally be released !

its a real masterpiece alrite. ^^ The most obvious note is fate overpower nanoha in every aspect of battle compare to the series where nanoha leveled up to fate's level.

yeah its a sad thing we didn't get to see the epic hand to hand rescue in the movie like in the final episode of the series but its still a very good movie ^^

ps : i don't think fate knows about nanoha name until the last scene where nanoha reintroducce herself.

Spoiler:
mM, yeah, about this character changes. First, I was a little reluctant, since to make the NanoFate bond stronger, they had to change Fate's character quite a bit. And Fate was getting hurt a lot...I guess to show she needs saving, and she's a victim, not the villain. But the character changes were definitely nice. I already know Nanoha and Fate from the series, so no problems with them being different in the movie. Certainly not to the point where it makes me like them any less. Nanoha was more heroic, Fate was easier to empathize with (earlier than in the series)...So bravo to that. Too bad about the Nanoha saving Fate in the garden of time, but there was a lot more NanoFate in the installation compared to the series. So no complaints there.

I like the final battle where RH told Nanoha "She is more advanced than you" lol -- But overall, I think Nanoha was shown to have more firepower, Fate was just more skilled and experienced as a mage.

You're right - During the scene where Fate waked up from her despair, and a she's reminiscing of all the things she's been through with Nanoha, and her backstory, etc... She mentions something like "What was that girls name again?"

fire power yes how can anyone defend herself/himself against Starlight Breaker(SLB).
Yup. i'm wondering what would happen if nanoha didn't reintroduce herself at the end... think fate would have ask for her name again and makes nanoha goes mad at her. XD

i'm glad they include the part where lindy decided to adopt fate into her family. =3

With Fate, it's not who is willing to adopt her, it's who would like to have the honor of adopting her. : D

But yes, glad they added a bit of that scene. Gives a good feeling and lets you know things are starting to look up for Fate, rather than the downward spiral that was most of the movie. <:

From what I got from Lindy speech, she doesn't say she is going to adopt her yet. Rather Fate will have 2 or 3 years of probation where she has to be a "good girl" and then she will be all cleared. During this time, Lindy will be her guardian of sort, responsible to watch over Fate (she acts as a "guarantee", but I can't put my finger on the exact term to express it).
But that's indeed a good thing for Fate that Lindy was around at the time, otherwise I can easy imagine the TSAB putting her in some kind of close facility, like they did for Erio even though, as says Chrono, she was just a tool in Precia's hands.

From the reactions I gathered, the movie is the Macross-DYRL of Nanoha, which is an excellent sign for the franchise.

Every comparison with Macross is welcome! Especially DYRL (b'-')b.Even if I didn't watch it for ages (except for Frontiers ofc), I LOVE Macross. Gundam itoh...
I'm glad people liked it. I now wish a good share of them will be as supportive as the Macross fandom and buy the dvd/BR if they can when it will be released, so the studio may decide to produce a second Movie.
Well ofc it would be easier if the movie was licensed abroad, but I wouldn't bet on it u_u'. When I think nobody ever picked the original anime here, I feel depressed.

You're a Macross fan, too ? Great !

I hope, too, that people buy enough DVD/BR to push for a second movie, I think it'll sell very well.
Since the movie apparently garnered a lot of positive reviews, I won't be surprised if they announce a second movie.

Yeah, it's sad no editor want to release the series here (the worst is, in the contrary of Macross, there's no juridical mess to block the release, guess they're too afraid people don't buy a series with magical girl).

Now I'll wait for the release of the movie (and the Macross Frontier movie too).

I'm not too fond of buying international dvd releases, I'd definitely buy it if it ever gets licensed...but I'll have to think about the dvd release. I'll likely cave in and get it, though. It's the least I can do for the movie giving me most of everything I had hoped for~

I watched the camrip yesterday.

Was I mistaken, or in the last flashback Precia had before her demise, did they show Alicia asking her for a little sister;-;

I clearly heard Alicia say something to Precia about a "imoto" and Precia looked shocked. Did I capture the meaning of that part?

Yeah, that's what Alicia said in the flashback. It's why at the very end, before Precia perished -- Precia realized she was a big dummy for treating Fate like that, who could have been that sister to Alicia.

Bawwww...

I wonder if Fate has that memory of Alicia saying that herself?

Is it perhaps the memory the Book of Darkness uses on her in A's when she is in the pocket dimension? That allows her to come face to face with Alicia.

I hope they do a A's movie...

Actually given the amount of money this one pulled in, I think a A's movie is pretty much a given. I just hope they do it as well as this one and don't drop the Fate and Alicia scene from it like they dropped the Fate and Nanoha hand grab from the end of the movie:(

She might have those memories. You can tell that in the movie, Fate desperately wanted a sister as well. It's why she called out to not only Precia, but Alicia as well as they were both falling.

As for an A's movie, the only foreseeable problem is that there isn't much to condense with A's, so it's hard to make a movie out of it. I think a second movie is likely, I just don't know what they plan on doing with it. The sequences between A's and StrikerS would be nice in movie form...

There was a pair of images by the same author that was even more ;_; -- But I doubt I could find it.

Was a "before" and "after" image. Truly depressing.

As for that image, he doesn't make him images any larger than that because he claims he isn't good enough at detailing things yet, so he prefers to keep the images small.
