Recruiting editors and translators

A.'s picture

Hello everyone! This short post is to announce that we are looking for an extra editor to give us a hand editing Ameiro's "First Night" doujin (raws are in the first link in this post), and potentially more doujins in the future if you're interested. Previous experience editing is desirable.

Also our group is evaluating if it's possible to do a full translation of the NanoFate wedding anthology "Forever With You" (raws in this post). With our current staff this task would probably be not possible in a reasonable amount of time, so we'll like to know if there are more translators and possibly editors interested in joining us to make a partial or full translation of this book.

If you are interested please post in this thread, preferably, otherwise you can send us a mail.

I-I have a little knowledge in editing. I'll study online tutorials if I have to.

It's nice to see that you're willing to give us a hand Weiss. Probably First Night wouldn't be the best doujin for a new editor, I checked the raws and many pages seems to have many transparent speak bubbles that will need redrawing. You can check the raws, if you think you can handle it we can add you to our mailing list and see how we proceed from there. Otherwise maybe you can help us with Forever With You if we get enough people to start this project.

I just checked the doujins and wow.. You weren't kidding about those transparent speak bubbles in First Night. Are the SFXs still needed to be removed too? (just curious) I could handle it but I'm not really confident I could do a good job on it. Though, I'll try my best. I've seen tutorials for those kinds of editing.
As for Forever With You, I could handle that no problem.

Edit: I've tried editing the 3rd page of First Night (if I downloaded it correctly). Here's the sample: http://weiss-ritter.deviantart.com/art/Sample-1-360175633
Tell me if I've edited the transparent bubble right.

The redrawing looks good to me :) I think editors usually do this after placing the translated text over the bubble so it's easier to redraw only what is strictly necessary.
The only details I see are the size of the image that seems to be too big, and that you needed to crop the borders a bit too.
Anyways, if you agree I think we can add your mail to our mailing list so you can access the messages of our group and edit this doujin. Please tell me if you accept and if it's fine to add the mail that you used to register your account.

The tutorials are strict when it comes to editing so I guess it's fine with me with how things work. Thanks for telling me that though. And yes, I haven't trimmed it out yet, I just worked on the redrawing first. Sorry about that.
Yeah, sure thing. I'll agree to this. I'll just send you my mail via PM then.

Sorry I haven't been too active in the group. I had a good start, too, but I got wrapped up in some work with xYuki and haven't found the time to go in between projects. I'll try to lend a bit more of a hand in things now that my work load has lessened.

I have some knowledge in japanese. Even being busy due that's my first year at college, that would be a nice opportunity to study because I'm graduating in Translation, so... yeah, I can help a little if you guys need some little things?
I noticed Forever With You has short parts. That's good.

Don't worry Railgun, that happens all the time, our personal lives are always first. When you are free and want to help us with something just tell us then :)

And kkattapiya, what you said sounds nice. If you think you can translate any of the short parts that would be great, and in the case that you have any doubts in translating a certain part you can always try asking to the group. If we start this project we'll let you know.

Righto. I'll try translating in my free-time. May you guys decide to start the project, and if I made some progress I'm sure I'll take it seriously with you then. Just lemme know ;)

About asking the group, where should I ask?

We'll invite you to a mailing list when we start this, we use the mailing list to coordinate all our projects, it works kind of like a forum, and our other translators are there too in case that you need a little help translating something from this book.
I would prefer to wait a couple of days before we start inviting people though, to see how many persons can we get for this project and see if we do only a partial translation or of we try to translate the whole book.

I'm pretty busy with college right now, but that will soon end by the end of this week... for two months only though -_-... so I'm willing to help out in these two months =3. I'll gladly translate any Spanish doujins/novels to English and I have little to no knowledge in editing/cleaning doujins, but I'm willing to try it out and learn =3...

I know I was suppose to help out with proofreading before, but things got hectic with college and couldn't do my work properly. But now that summer break is coming, I'm giving it my all! *burning with determination*

So after talking with Mad about what Editors actually do, I'll help with the Editing and Translating from Spanish to English if there are any doujins like that =3.

Our doujins are translated from Japanese to English in most cases, and sometimes from Chinese. I think all the Spanish doujins are translated from our releases, so the only thing we're really translating from Spanish is The legend of sword novel that is currently on hold.

If you think you can help us with editing something from "Forever With You" or from another doujin in the future please drop us a message in the mailing list when you're interested in taking some doujin that needs an editor... I believe we added you to our mailing list some time ago, right CryingLeo? Please excuse me if my memory is betraying me, with so many users in our site sometimes I get confused >.<

I just checked and you are in the list with your gmail mail, so I think unless you added nanofate(at)googelgroups.com to your spam list or to some filter, you should be still getting our mails.
You can also log into googlegroups.com and check our group there.

Well, this is odd. The group's e-mail is neither filtered or put as spam.... odd O.o

I'm not sure if we'll have any scripts ready for edition soon, but hopefully we do :)

Oh I see, well I'll just prep up the raws and clean it up for typeset so by the time the scripts are done, we can just put everything together, double check everything, and update quick =D... or I'll just wait for the scripts and work once it's done. What do you think?

I don' think we're sure if we will be capable of translating all the stories yet, so probably cleaning everything beforehand wouldn't be a good idea.

I think we're good on editors at this moment, but I'm not really sure. I guess we'll know when we start editing the doujin, if by then we need an extra hand, I'll drop you a e-mail :)

Yo. /o/ I'm Konagami03's friend, Risa. I believe Haru should know her, kinda? She used to work for NF but because of family issues, she had to quit and migrate out of town.

Most of her work/proofreading were by me (she consulted me because she was not sure of some stuff). Although I could translate, however I might only be free by mid-April as I wait for graduation. However if you need an extra hand in proofreading, I'm very much alright with it. :)

Hello there Risa, thanks for all the help that you gave to Kagami and to us in the past :)
We have a couple of active proofreaders in the group I believe, but if you want I can invite you to the group so maybe you can give us a hand when we start getting scripts done for this anthology or for other doujins.

Hi,

We're translating this anthology from Japanese, I think that there isn't a Chinese translation yet. If you think you can translate any of the stories in this doujin from japanese to English, you will be welcome in the group.
Here are the raws of this book if you don't have them yet: http://nanofate.us/content/general-doujinshi?page=25#comment-35743
And you can see what is currently being translated here:

If I may jump on the friend acknowledgement train, I met someone who says he works with this site, in ucla's Earth and Space Science computer lab. We talked about NanoFate and Vocaloid, and I invited him to Miku Mondays, but he sadly declined.

Now that I'm out of school, and, after watching the 2nd Movie, gobbling up countless Nanoha thre/a/ds, I came across this site. I've heard good things about this community from 4chan (go figure), and I definitely appreciate the free doujinshi scanlation and distribution, so I'd like to be a part of the help effort. I can into both kanas, and a bit of kanji, but my jp is limited. I can help with some grunt work like cleaning and proofreading if help is needed.

Let me know if you'd like my services, since I ask for nothing but acknowledgement in return, only so that I can prove my experience for later scanlation work.

Hello there Hetynne! Welcome to our site, I hope you have a good time here.

It would be nice if you could join the group and lend us a hand some time with something "Forever With You status" or maybe some other doujin. "Forever With You status" is divided in many stories of different lengths and complexity so we are often needing someone to take a pending task that sometimes can be simple. You can take this as a reference to see our current status and what we're needing http://nanofate.us/content/forever-you-status

If you want to join the group, please confirm me so I can send you an invitation to your mail.
