I really to dig these new designs changes, admittedly Hayate looks kinda the same I do like Nanoha's new look, it's something about the loss of her big goffy bow and the less fluffiness of her sleeves. But Fate definitely has the best designs in these movies, I love that as each new film comes out Fate's outfit transitions out of her original swimsuit like outfit and becomes closer to her Barrier Jacket she has in Strikers. She's finally got the skirt she has in that season now. I don't know she just looks so much more mature now I think that's great. I especially loved in the second movie when she got her cape. Anyway the girls look cool.

I really like the designs of the jackets themselves, but I do wonder about the expressions chosen. I think it's just a byproduct of my nostalgia, disagreeing with artistic choice, and eyebrows but it just doesn't sit well with me that the current artist had Nanoha trade in her innocent/somewhat somber smile for a confident "come at me" smirk, Fate's soft/stoic resolve for mild aggression? agitation? I don't know how to describe it...and the ever cheerful Hayate looking like she's 2 seconds away from Ragnarok'ing anything that remotely ticks her off...might just be me though.

I think you might just be looking to much into it. I think that it was just for promotionally purposes I doubt the expressions will reflect how the girls are in the movie.

You're probably, no definitely right. Admittedly it's just fun to speculate every once in a while.

Even if they don't make NanoFate explicit on-screen in this movie, they're still a confirmed couple either way. We have that interview with Yukari Tamura, Nana Mizuki, and Masaki Tsuzuki to be thankful for.

Yeah I would like a little more on screen explicit evidence but that interview by itself is good enough for me.

ViVid, INNOCENT/INNOCENTS, and StrikerS exist for evidence. But yes, my favorite part of that interview isn't Yukari and Nana acting out how Nanoha and Fate are as a married couple in the future, it's Masaki Tsuzuki comparing Fate to a father working away from home because it comes from the main creator himself. That is as bulletproof as you can get.

Nanoha and Fate are a married couple in Vivid, that's canon too, many years ago they were talking about Nanoha and Fate having a biological baby in the future, and this year they even went a step ahead and said that Vivio and Einhart will get married during highschool and have their own child too. It would be great if someone can translate the rest of the attached image by the way.

They have all the elements to make an interesting romance/drama with Vivio, Einhart, Yumina, and maybe other of the girls, but it's very unlikely they will shift genres as I said before. Also I'm to blame too but try to keep the off topic to a minimum.

I didn't know that they said that Vivio and Einhart are also going to get married in an interview as well. Like mothers, like daughter. If they can't be explicit on-screen because it's a bad marketing move, at least they can still confirm relationships through interviews with the crew. The substantial amount official art doesn't hurt either.

My bad A. I just like talking NanoFate, as we all do. Put you know if the two of them give each other a little peck during the movie, you know just saying might be on topic again.

given that the 3rd movie will separate the movies from the anime continuity (because the first 2 were really just remakes of the first 2 seasons with slight canon differences) it's very possible that a 4th movie or anime or manga sequal to the 3rd movie could lead or do that.

ofcause as to Fate's name their baby will probably end up as Vivio (the appearance difference a result of a magical side effect of the 2 of them having a biological baby)

Yes, the movies are technically a different continuity than the main show, but I have the feeling that they don't want to change the movies so much as to not fit the events from Strikers and Vivid. We will have to wait and see, but I don't expect any major changes in the continuity like an important character dying.

New info from /u/, this is from a recent interview with Tsuzuki:

  • The setting is at Uminari city and the area around Tokyo
  • 3 months after 2nd A's movie, 5th grade Nanoha and co. in their summer break
  • Hayate can now jog easily
  • Some GOD related characters and setting
  • The cause of the incident is Amitie
  • Extra characters like Vivio, Einhart, Thoma, etc. in GOD won't appear
  • You don't have to know about GOD to watch it
  • There is 1 complete new female character
  • This time, there are both aerial and land battles
  • Amitie won't be an enemy so Nanoha won't fight her
  • Kyrie is an enemy. Nanoha and Fate will fight her in the first movie
  • Kyrie "and co." will have (a) robot(s) called Kidou Gaikaku - 起動外殻 - "activated shell"
  • There will be battle(s) against giant enemy

So with 2 returning (kinda) characters, one new, and one NOT Gundam, in addition to the available cast of MCs, this should set the current known main roster at around 13-ish, not counting if Materials, if they do show, right? How would this compare to StrikerS in terms of cast bloating/runtime?

I think StrikerS had around 50 characters if not more, it had a very high amount of unnecessary characters.

Whoa I remembered that there were a lot, but that's way more than I expected. Hopefully this means shared screen time across Reflection's two parts won't be as much of an issue.

Alright cool new information we've got here. I'm glad that Tsuzuki has clarified that the time travel shenanigans with future characters wont be a problem in this movie and really any excuse the franchise can give to ignore that little shit head Thoma is always a plus in my book. I think that's interesting to that Kyrie is going to be an enemy but not Amitie that might add some interesting familiar drama to the mix. Also giant robot wow the franchise just keeps getting closer and closer to being a Gundum anime (also by co I'm really hopping that their talking about the materials).

And just a little quick thing a have to laugh at the fact that Hayate can apparently just walk fine now after 3 months of physical therapy. I mean I know real world science has never really been a thing with this series but wow.

Anyway once again this movie is sounding awesome I'm really looking forward to learning more!

is that a typo? or a hint that the 3rd movie is only a Part 1 like how the first 2 Madoka Movies were Part 1 and Part 2

Wait, hold on... a lot of things going on here.

First: finally marrying Nanoha and Fate is about dam fucking time. Having an actual kid with them? No, it would ruin the little meaning Vivio has.

Second: Vivio and Einhard... have the same magic as two bricks with happy faces drawn on them so yeah. Those two having a kid, well I can't wait for Magical Girl Lyrican Vivio Insert Name of Her Kid Here to be another disappointment.

Third: a new female character? Have we learn nothing from ViVid and ViVid Strike? Best case scenario we won't mind her too much.

Fourth: the movie already looks overcrowded as all hell even without a new character.

Fifth: The new Barrier Jackets are just awful. They ruin the color balance and nice visual designs to add more unnecessary crap on top. This feels like adding jelly beans to a wedding cake, not helping and it was better without them.

Now in all seriousness I am glad they want to continue the movies but I suggest we keep expectations in check. This franchise just show how much it can screw with a very direct concept

I don't think that's going to happen in the third movie with them being so young, Sansker post was a bit confusing. In the main series it was before Vivid, maybe some day they will cover the events, but probably not seeing how they're departing from Nanoha and Fate in favor to the new generations in everything but the movies.

I am quite content with Fates design, at the very least.

I feel like some people just complain for the sake of complaining. I like the new designs. And it's still too early to judge the movie.

So far the movies always managed to deliver IMO so don't just trash it before it's even out x.x

Promising information and plans so far.

Though I do find it interesting that Amitie and Kyrie are pretty much confirmed.. yet it seems like not a word has been said of the Materials, arguably the three of them are far more popular then the Florian sisters.

Not to mention the time frame is perfect for their appearance, as they did appear shortly after the Book of Darkness incident in the games, so either they are a surprise showing in the movies, the ultimate antagonists.. kinda like how Kill la Kill was pretty much marketed entirely on the Ryuko vs Satsuki concept, only for Satsuki's mother to ultimately be the big baddy, that.. or they're not appearing at all, which would be quite disappointing.

Will admit though, even if there's no Materials, it wouldn't ruin the movie for me, I mean, LOOK at the info and pictures, this is the first thing we get that doesn't involve fucking Vivid or Force since Movie 2nd.

Well a movie about the Dark Fragments Incident would be too character focus for this franchise. Nanoha, Fate and Hayate would have to carry the movie on their shoulders and their growth as they face the Materials. No room to include the Florian sisters on that note.

I think they will go for something new and since they have two movies they can make the first have a disappointing ending and the second be tortuously prolong as it turns out they stretch a script meant for a single movie in to two for double the profits.

Wow… I am a negative person lately. What has ViVid Strike do to me?!

Also I do blame Zwei for this. Not Reinforce Zwei, mind you, but our very own Zweihart.
