Honestly, I feel like I'm reading a dream-come-true doujin of NanoFate. Though, this one is the real deal. I am so looking forward for the next update. The fan service for NanoFate fans here is much better than Vivid and Force.

I think the most ironic thing about the manga is how doting Precia is to Fate. They're trying hard to make me not hate Precia as much...

I can't bring myself to hate Innocent Precia (no pun intended, heh). She's still crazy but in an overly loving sort of way. It's totally adorable. Also, I can't hate anybody who loves Fate almost more than I do.

Well, Innocent Precia is great, but it's hard to forgive what she did during the series...Which is why I'm so conflicted.

Watching paint dry will be better than ViVid or Force.

So far Innocent doesn't impress me.

Now that you mention it, what does impress you Sansker? I'm curious on what you find good in a story.

But Nanoha innocent has good artwork and a ton of NanoFate goodness. Isn't that what you wanted from Force and Vivid?

What I want is a good story. Sure I like Nanoha and Fate a lot but I never watched the original series, A’s or the movies just because they were in there. While an element of the stories they actually try to do something with it. In the first movie and the series the entire conflict resolve is with Nanoha and Fate. Just them having cute scenes in a boring setting where the most exciting thing is happening is that… yeah, not really impress me. If you like it is fine, more power to you, but I am not happy with it.

Is just that the previous seasons were stories that did invite me to watch and know how they will end. There was drama, there was action and feelings that this was a situation that need to be resolve. Conflict drive the story as the characters fight for their goals and dreams. Instead here I get just a bunch of kids playing a game with nothing going for it but the fact they are Nanoha and Fate. They try to make interesting but is just so boring.

considering some ideas I have for my story that I plan to do, it won't be cute and interesting with boring, more like interesting and hardcore elements placed in

It was mentioned anywhere else if Vita is the "Ace" of the Yagami Store?

She certainly acts as if she were but no one seems to take her seriously at all, not even her family, plus, she really seems to suck at this game, almost beated by a noob on her first fight and being 4 ranks below Fate (also getting roflstomped by Stern on coming chapters).

My theory is that she likes to label herself as an Ace and no one have the heart to tell her the truth while Yagami's store true Ace is someone else, you know, someone actually competent xDU

Ace Duelist ZAFIRA!

I knew it xD!

Signum: ...it's not my fault i'm not popular!

I wish Nanoha Innocent would get animated. It's deliciously moe. Sure, it's kind of mindless, but it's multiple times better than Force and Vivid...Which are more of an eyesore than anything else to me.

After reading the manga again to refresh my feeling on it, I must say this… I kind of enjoy it. I did say that doesn’t impress me and that still holds. I mean Innocent is, at best, a fun time but forgettable since there isn’t something that really remains with you after you ended it. No drama, no strong emotion and shallow characters… what is to like here? Well, I did like something and I will admit is far better than Force or ViVid. So, not counting the Movie manga, this is the best stand-alone Nanoha manga so far.

Innocent is, basically, fanservice. And I really need to address this point because is what I get from the manga. There is nothing to it more than see stuff we wish we could see in the canon universe. Fate having a happy family with Precia, Alicia and Lindy; the Materials, Nanoha and Fate meeting, etc. And when you come down to it there is no story to explain this elements to the audience. In the chapters translated so far we jump to Fate and Nanoha knowing each other and bounding out of magic. At the same time we establish all the other characters with a store to play the super-awesome Brave Duel already know each other. Se we skip any kind of introduction arc to anyone but Nanoha and her two friends that are the only ones new around, but quickly accepted and integrated in to the large cast.

At one point Nanoha actually notice Levi is almost identical to Fate but they never give any kind of follow to it. Just there as a funny detail. We even have Alicia being older but smaller for no reason other than the fans, even if they are told, won’t buy she is Alicia if she was bigger than Fate. Alicia is the small one and Levi looks like Fate we will put that in this new universe and roll with it because that is what the fans want. The fans also want Precia and Lindy in Fate’s life so we put them there with no explanation as well. Also Nanoha and Fate must bound just by seeing each other and saying two words to one another, so bum, they are now in “love” *wink* *wink*

So seeing all of this makes me realize they are just giving what we ask as fans, without content. Once I pass the fact they will never bother to explain anything or maybe they will give a half ass explanation latter I could focus more on what the manga does. And right of the bat I can tell nothing here is original, particularly entertaining or even creative. The avatar idea for the game has been done much better in other series and the power of the cards is an old trick. The battles are just using the stuff from the show and given a weaker concept. Like when Vita attacks Nanoha the first time they see each other. In A’s Vita was trying to save the life of Hayate and forcing herself to hurt others, while in Innocent she is just a hotheaded girl with aggressive problems that takes the game way too serious.

Nanoha getting her Barrier Jacket and even a talking Raising Heart is also another stuff make just to please the fans, along with the Divine Buster cards I am not surprise she didn’t have a SLB card or a Blaster power up. Along these lines the manga also introduce the concept of virtual reality just as an awesome game system. Kind of like Yu-Gi-Oh! Nobody seems to think this tool could be used for anything but children’s games. And is not even clear how rentable this is because Nanoha and her friends receive everything they needed to play the game for free. So unless the shops gain a magic device that can turn garbage in to gold with the expensive installation for the Brave Duel, I don’t see how this is going to work in the long run.

However, despite all of this, I didn’t hate Innocent. The manga can be fun and knows how to keep you entertain when it seems to acknowledge its own simplicity rather than pretend it has a deep story behind (Like ViVid). I couldn’t help it but to laugh at Alicia and Amy’s necessity of showing up and explain all kind of useless things about the Brave Duel system only to forget about the important details. And Precia’s over protective attitude towards Fate is cute and funny at the same time. On that note Innocent is really a simple manga that seems to know its content is mostly for fans of the series that don’t want to think too much.

So while I can’t help it but to wonder about many of the implications of this ideas and how they play, Innocent doesn’t need to explain those things. Is harmless fun in the best case and just a simple fanservice manga in its worse moments. I won’t read it regularly but I might give it a look once in a while, even if is just too see how is it going.

You keep spouting the word "fanservice" as if it's the worst thing since unresolved harem manga.
As a fan, I must say I enjoy seeing a service for me every now and then.

And give it some time, it's been only, what, three chapters? In the original MGLN anime Fate didn't appear 'till the 4th episode. Just saying... there's always the possibilty it'll surprise us.

“Fanservice” is just a word used to describe material add in to a story just to please the fans. On itself is harmless and can happen is so many media and without the need of sexual references that it doesn’t even matter anymore. You miss my point entirely. First I only used the word “fanservice” twice on my post and just explain how Innocent is full with it but lacks anything else going for it. Without the use of loving characters nobody will even give Innocent a second look because is just doesn’t work. So really I did recognize that is fun and harmless despite this. However I can’t and I won’t ignore it’s obvious flaws as story just because of it. So is not much the fanservice itself as the lack of anything to balance it up that I really critic.

About giving it time… there is no point to it. Innocent won’t try to be something else because isn’t suit for it. The best this manga can hope is to keep the actual tone and level. Being 3 or 9 chapters, I am pretty sure we will just remain with what we have, and no surprises will come out.

From the looks of it, it really sounds like you don't like anything about the Nanoha series in general. Ever o.o
Remind me why you like the series if all you do is pick apart and hate every little thing about it?

I'd assume he at least likes the first two seasons, although that begs the question of why he seeks out pictures and conversations about StrikerS and the manga only series in the first place.

I believe the term "Likes the sound of his own voice too much" Applies here.

Yes I love the sound of my own voice in the written comments of this page, almost as much as I love the looks of the invisible walls on my house, they are just beautiful, and the smell of the plastic flowers is the best perfume that ever was.

And, by the way, I do like Innocent despite its flaws. StrikerS, ViVid and Force are the things I don’t like. I just point out my view on it with some little more thought than just “this is good”.

His reviews entertain me. I honestly don't know why, maybe because the current series has so much wasted potential, it's saddening and kind of frustrating.

I just want to say that nutty love fiend for her precious daughters Precia is hot.

Btw, anyone else hope they'll start throwing some PreciaxLindy hints around? I mean, two lonely single mothers working together late at night...

AWWW YEEEAAH, PRECIA TESTAROSSA!

Heh heh, I'm quite fond of evil!Precia but seeing her like this is great too~ Or rather, it's important to see her when she's nice so that the impact is stronger when you see her when she's ...not so nice. Really, I think it's funny that the world that Fate wanted is only accessible in AU's, poor Fate~

Nya ha ha, I'm loving Innocent~ Especially since it lets me see more of the GoD cast! And, of course, Precia Testarossa.

Precia is a woman that doesn't look her age. I don't know here but in the TOS she was 56

Don't worry. Precia's age isn't something that's just mentioned left and right.

For all we know Innocent Precia could be in her in her late 20s/early 30s since she gave birth to Alicia when she was 23.

Her age is part of why I never supported Precia/Lindy, as Lindy is the same age as Alicia would have been if she had survived the whole time. :P

Jeeze, with all the lolicon material produced by this site, I'm kinda surprised someone here would be squeamish about age differences in a relationship. Then again maybe the reason why I don't mind age differences has to do with my love of fictional incest: after all I can't ship PreciaxAlicia if I'm grossed out by PreciaxLindy XD
