Hey everyone! Its been a while since my last RPGs died, but I've decided to start up a new one, based upon the amazing game of Fire Emblem. (And Before anyone asks, yes, there will be everyone's favorite characters somewhere in the game).

So, to start out, some backstory!

Spoiler:
Eutaria was a land of men, who yearned for peace, and did everything in their power to achieve it. And achieve it they did, rising out of more than a century of warfare with a powerful treaty agreed to unanimously by all rulers of the continent. It set forth the firm foundation upon which over 80 years of future peace was built.

However, there were some who wanted that peace destroyed, for they read of the glory found in the days of yore on the battlefield, and the great wealth and power that could come for it. As men they lusted for this power, seeking to take it by force from others, be it the underhanded Lysangrians or the despicable Breccians.

However, all others stayed true to the desire for peace, and quickly squashed the nascent plots for war. First among equal in these attempts was the nation of Praetoria, a kingdom of fertile farms and gleaming cities. Its rulership was benevolent, its good deeds earnest, and its body of troops well trained and highly, highly disciplined. It was an exemplar among nations.

However, that all ended in the year EFR 776, when Praetoria surged forth, and started invading territories to expand its borders. This totally unprovoked, unexpected hostile action shocked all the other nations of the land, and many doubted the reports for several days, long enough for the Praetorians to take the whole of the Benali Basin unopposed. Now, however, the nation of Springcliff has called for an alliance of nations to oppose this unprecedented agression; though many were at first hesitant, it did not take long for several heroes and legends to answer the call. This is their story....

So, a short summary of everyone's roles: You are all heroes, fighters or mages of one of several classes. You will participate in battles both on battlefields and in the court of nobles, collecting resources to aid you in your quest in ancient dungeons and fighting back the tide of Praetorian soldiers. Along your way will be numerous perils, enemies, and allies, all leading to an epic climactic battle.

But in order to do that, you must know of the nations you may come from. As such, HERE is the ultra-massive google doc with all of the nations, history, jargon, and evererything else vital to this campaign. If you are interested give it a lookthrough. Just as important, however, is also the map:

Weapon of Choice: (If your class allows you to have multiple weapons, this will determine which you are best with, then second best with, then third, etc.

Also useful are possible classes. I'll compile a unique list with actual links to the individual ones sometime soon (notably after my final exams are over), but here are two lists that will cover most of your possible classes, with descriptions on their own page of the wiki:

Normal Classes:
Archer: Footsoldier that uses bows. Bit of a glass cannon, but can be very deadly later on. Also able to use seige weapons.
Armor Knight: A soldier in a massive suit of armor, with extra armor put on just in case. Extremely durable, able to survive hits that would fell most other people, but extremely slow and heavy. However, rather vulnerable to magic. Most use lances in battle, though it is not undheard of for a few to take up axes instead. (Note: you can't use both, unless you promote. More on that during the mid-game though.)
Bandit: Highwaymen and brigands, these units are even stronger and more powerful than fighters, at the expense of more speed and resistance to magic. However, they are able to traverse rocky terrain that would be impassible to most units. Use Axes.
Bard/Dancer: Unit that is able to buff others with their near-magical level of skill at song or dance, their main purpose is to buff their allies, as they are very weak and rather fragile, though very resistant to magic. May optionally use swords (this will come at a price, however).
Cavalier: These are the basic mounted units of any army. Great for traversing open fields and plains, and excellent balance between durability and strength, though the master of neither. Able to use swords and lances.
Cleric: Magical healers, either ordained by a church or able to use their own holy magic power. Use staves.
Fighter: Strong warriors who prioritize damage over accuracy and speed. Very durable against physical attacks, and very high health, but somewhat vulnerable to magic. They are the basic axe-using infantry.
Lord: This is the class that leads armies and nations. These are the nobility and the generals. They largely can do anything that you want them to do, though they will be limited to be reasonable. You must get my permission if you want to play a Lord. Furthermore, if a Lord is defeated, then the battle is lost, and there will be significant penalties levied upon the party. Bear this in mind during the game.
Mage: Most common type of magic user. Able to do impressive feats of power and control elements. Use Anima Tomes.
Mercenary: Basic Sword-user. Strong and decently fast. Does not neccessarily have to be a soldier of fortune, but usually is.
Merchant: A peddler of goods, and a banker of gold. Takes care of all your excess items and keeps an account for all of one's gold, as well as acts as a store in case weapons run out in the field. Does not use weapons, may be mobile but weak.
Monk: People who seek to pruify their mind, body and soul. Highly accurate, yet not too powerful. Users of Light Tomes.
Myrmidon: Another sword user, one who focuses more upon speed and swift blows to vital spots than a Mercenary. Prefers to dodge attacks over taking blows, so they rarely get hit, but when they do, they really feel it.
Nomad: Mounted archers extordinaire. They combine the movement speed of Cavalry with the range of archers. Not as durable as regular Cavalry, but slightly better armored than regular archers. Unable to use seige weapons.
Pegasus Knight: Hailing from the highlands to the north, Pegasus knights are agile fighters able to fly over any kind of terrain. They are some of the fastest units in any battle. Somewhat fragile to physical damage, but very resistant to magical effects. Able to fly and use lances; Vulnerable to bows.
Pirate: Mariners who traverse the high seas. Similar to fighters in stats, but a bit more focused on accuracy at a slight expense to durability. Excellent swimmers, they are able to cross bodies of water. Not neccessarily criminals, most navies also employ marines who fall under the pirate class. Use Axes.
Shaman: Users of dark, or as they prefer to call it, elder magic. Very powerful units, and the most durable magic users, but not the most accurate, and always under strict control to make sure their soul is not lost in the great power they weild. Use Dark Tomes.
Thief: Sneaky, stealthy sword user. Able to pick door and chest locks, and steal non-weapon items from the enemy, as well as sneak around without being seen. Extremely fast and agile like the swordmaster, but with even less strength. This is the class for spies, thieves and assassins. Use swords.
Troubadour: Mounted version of Priests, but usally not ordained by the church. Very slightly more durable, but not enough to withstand combat on the front lines. Use Staves.
Soldier: The bread and butter of most armies. These spearmen are the most common type of unit to hire and emplot for any type of military action, and are the simplest to train. They are the basic lance-wielding infantry.
Wyvern RiderThe southern equivalent to the Pegasus Knight, the Wyvern Rider is its opposite. Whereas the Pegasus knight is fragile, weak and agile, the wyvern rider is as strong as steel and as tough as nails, but somewhat slow and vulnerable to magic. Uses lances. [b]Needs my permission to be used.

Also to be considered, if you want something a bit different, is the masterlist of Fire Emblem classes.

Also, please keep in mind that your class will be able to promote and gain abilities and the use of weapons, based on which class you pick. If you want to know your options you can ask me, or permission may be granted for a special promotion by me.

Backstory:

The only child of a war veteran from the Centennial Wars and the daughter of a merchant who immigrated to Jelkala, Bunduk is anything but an average Suthian child. His father would sometimes teach him things that the man had learned from his long stint as a sword-for-hire, from wielding a sword, living off the land, to being quick on his feet. His mother, not wanting her son to be a brainless brute, taught the lad how to read, write, count and haggle; skills necessary for any kind of work beyond that of the battlefield.

Considered by his peers as odd for a Suthian of his age, in no small part due to his fair complexion as well as his demeanor, the young lad would for one reason or another always get into fights with children normally bigger than him. These experiences would lead the young boy to using more… pragmatic means to win his fights. The lad would come to favor “dirty tricks” (as many an unlucky boy would attest to) like eye-pokes, crotch kicks and other kinds of skullduggery for as long as it would give him an advantage.

One day, as a teenager sitting on a rock just outside the keep’s walls, Bunduk would come to meet a hunter who had in turn taught him a few things when the inquisitive young man had inquired. Fascinated, he would eventually use the skills taught by both his father and the hunter to become a hunter himself. He would go out in the mornings and come back with a few dead gazelle. He would then help his mother sell the hides and meat, adding to the modest income that his mother’s shop would earn.

It seemed that Bunduk would come to have a peaceful, if slightly interesting life ahead of him. However, the death of his father (who had died of sickness) would change all this. Wanting to honor the man who had been his role model, Bunduk wanted to venture out into the world and become a sword-for-hire just like his father. His mother, upon learning her only son’s intent, had opposed his decision. For the next few weeks after his father’s death, Bunduk would argue with her mother on the matter. The issue came to a head when Bunduk's mother finally gave in to his son's pleading and allowed the young man to carry on with his decision.

With a knife, a crossbow and some bolts (all of which he had bought using the money he had earned from hunting) and a heartfelt farewell between him and his mother, Bunduk set out with a band of other mercenaries to seek their fortune in the various conflicts around Eutaria. The first two years would be hard for the young Suthian adventurer and painful lessons would be learned during this time. As the second year drew to a close, Bunduk had become a hardened man, no stranger to violence nor to the atrocities that a man would inflict upon his fellow man.

His journeys would take him to many fields of battle as well as different place, from the Crown Mountains to the marshes of Kalratine. As four years have passed since he set forth from Jelkala, Bunduk’s fortunes would lead him to Springcliff where he would meet someone who would change his life in a way that he never would have expected…

Backstory: Not his real name, Wladek was born in the City of Suno with his twin brother on EFR 746, hes was the first one to be born and joined only minutes by his twin brother. Since childhood Wladek was never liked by his parents for no valid reason and seemed to favore his twin brother than him so most of his life he would stand up on his own and beated every kid who was bigger than him. At the age of 18 he decided to leave the family because of his parents overwhelming love for his twin rather than him and decided to change his name to Wladek Szpilman. After training and being a cavalier he went on being a mercenary cavalier for nearly 12 years of hardened experience lied in him, deciding to end his mercenary career he decided to head home to springcliff, but never planning on returning to his home he decided to live in a tavern and rest for awhile from his journey’s from being a soldier of fortune.

Story:

Ivanna was born from a family of merchants. At a young age, her parents taught her all about trading. She was expected to be a merchant as well. In spite of this, she has very little interest in trading. All she thought of was protecting her homeland.

Ivanna saw that her homeland has poor defenses. She knows that a regular army of knights, cavaliers and archers are not enough to hold sieges. She believed that the agility of a Pegasus rider can distract the incoming forces. This would be a great help in the army. She asked her parents to bring her home a Pegasus on the next trading expedition.

Ivanna was a huge fan of Tana, a very famous Pegasus rider. At the age of fifteen, started training with her Pegasus. With Tana as her inspiration, she trained very well on her own and she became a great Pegasus rider. Her parents saw this and allowed her to join the army.

At the age of sixteen, Ivanna joined the army. She was the youngest soldier in the army. She was the only Pegasus rider. If not for her brilliant tactics, she would not be accepted in the army. The general appointed Ivanna the tactician of the Klaratine army.

Ivanna's tactics helped defend her hometown against the sieges of Praetoria. The defending lasted for a month until the forces could not hold the regular sieges any longer. The general said that they were lucky to have Ivanna as the tactician.

Seeing the fall of the defenses, Ivanna rushed to her parents and told them to flee. Her parents, knowing that there is no more chance for an escape, told Ivanna to flee since she is the only one who could use flying as a way to escape. Seeing that there is no other choice, Ivanna promised her parents that she would come back to liberate Klaratine. She fled to Verhall aboard her Pegasus.

She was welcomed by the people of Verhall. She told everything about the invasion to them. The general of Verhall told her to go to Springcliff since he knows that Springcliff can help Ivanna. The Verhall army searched for a caravan bound for Springcliff and told her to join them. Two weeks later she arrived in Springfield.

Curious, which era of Fire Emblem are you basing this from? Pre Path of Radience or post PoR? because you had 8/8 vulneary and that tickled my curiosity.

Ah, Yvanrobin, there are a couple flaws with your backstory that I'll correct shortly in the google doc, the biggest being that Pegasi are only found in the countries of the frozen north. The only currently named ones are Corandine, Sharatan, and Strafsburg. If you are a mercenary from Sharatan, then you could very well be employed by the nation of Corandine. However, Verhall would not welcome you warmly, as they're trying to stay neutral and they would shun you fairly badly. Lastly, the whole party is meeting up in Springcliff, so you would have to find some reason for going there (if you are a merc, your captain could give you orders to report there as your previous contract is currently suspended).

Depression, I'm drawing 95% of my material from the Elibe, Thracia and Sacred Stones games, but when I see something I want from Tellius I take it. After all, I'm just going for the feel that people will go through when they play the games, and absolutely no one is happy when their character dies. So when something so opportune comes along to prevent character death, I cannot help but take it.

Just a thought, maybe you could introduce a mechanic where a character who runs out of HP is either knocked unconscious or killed.

Normal attacks that deplete a character's HP will result in a K.O. for that char, incapacitating him for the rest of the battle.

Critical kills or "overkill deaths"(attacks that will make a char's HP hit 0 and still have enough damage to equal at least 5% of the char's HP) will result in said character dying.

Ivanna's life after the invasion of her homeland became very hard. She has no supplies with her. She looked for a job in Saiph in order to earn gold for her needs. One day, Ivanna found a caravan bound for Springcliff. This caravan is looking for people who could guard it for the expedition, for a good price. She decided to apply for the job.

The caravan arrived at Springcliff and Ivanna decided to look for another job there. She kept the stories of the invasion to herself until she finds someone worthy enough to know about it.

Ah, much better. Also the legendary Pegfasus Knight of this realm is Ireie, the White Maiden. Tanas on another continet, though maybe a trader brought a tale of her too.

Backstory:
The first prince of Aurvandil and next crowned king. He was to be wedded to the princess of Kothor in a political marriage to solidify the alliance, although it was only in the planning process and Lucien only met the fair maiden once, the arrangement was abruptly cancelled due to the invasion of Praetoria.

Refusing to sit idly by in the safety of the castle as his country suffered, he led his troops in the frontline during the war. Although outmanned and outarmed, his tactics and leaderships were able to win back a number of villages. Ultimately he realized the war was lost and ordered the remaining troops to evacuate the civilians out of Aurvandil’s borders while he and his most loyal knights held the line at the royal castle. Even in the fortified position of their castle the enemies proved too much as it fell with barely enough time for its citizens to escape.

Beseeched by his parents he reluctantly made his escape, carrying in tow the two crowns of Aurvandil for the next king and queen. Carrying the weight of the fallen on his shoulders, and shame in his heart, the prince made his long journey from nation to nation appealing for aid in liberating Aurvandil. This journey had finally led him to Springcliff. Has not heard from his brother since the start of the war and is naturally worried, but takes comfort in knowing that Tyus is studying abroad and away from the battlefield.

“I shall not rest until I see Aurvandil and her people free.”

Backstory:
The second prince of Aurvandil and Lucien’s younger brother. Unlike his brother, Tyus was born with a weak body, as such he spent most of his time in their expansive library quenching his thirst for knowledge rather than swinging around a spear or visiting the common folk. At a young age he know that only the eldest son becomes king, and he accepted the fact easily as his brother was always kind to him.

However as time passed, Tyus began harboring darker feelings as his brother garnered the attention of their father, the generals who trained them due to his brother’s superiority, and even in the academics where he excelled, the tutors paid more attention to Lucien as they tried to convince the first prince the importance of politics. Tyus slowly became engulfed in his brother’s shadow.

The final tipping point was when their parents announced Lucien’s marriage to Kothor’s princess. Upon first sight Tyus became infatuated, and cursed his brother for taking everything. After Praetoria waged war on a number of nations, with Aurvandil supporting neither side as Aurvandil was allied with Praetoria at the time but did not support the war, Prince Tyus met with King Arik in secrecy. In exchange for Aurvandil’s military intel and tactics, he asked for Aurvandil’s throne which was rightfully his as well as Kothor’s princess.

Wrong, none of my character's names are inspired from any Fire Emblem. The only thing I took from them are some class names in my original scenario, though the classes themselves are mostly quite different (e.g. Warrior being a base class and using Axes, Broad Swords and Heavy Blades).

For Lune I randomly thought of it while watching the moon (Luna->Lune), the last name is combining with the first to a meaningful one, as should be obvious when you say "Lune Atika" out loud a few times.

Family Origin/personality: Daughter of the renowned, influential Dusk family. They possess a family tree that extends all the way back to the days of old; heroism and charisma flows in their very blood. They always "produce" valiant knights, clever inventors, hard-lined merchants, or persuasive politicians. As one of three heirs to the current Dusk line, she used to idolize her much older brother, Sir Aaron Roosevelt Dusk. His contributions to the Rynoan military and Dusk lineage were met with much praise...until he suddenly died, however. That was 9 years ago, and "no one" knows what happened to him even to this day.

At her parent's disapproval, she became a squire to a certain Sir Kay when she was only 13 years old. She showed much promise with the sword; her potential was astounding. With reluctant faces, her parents finally approved of her not so Dusk-lady-like profession after Lumia's efforts in the Great Raid of EFR 769. Her contributions to the defense of her hometown, the great city of Aethens, will likely go down in Aethenian history. Because of this, she was knighted not too long after (at the request of Sir Kay and the Mayor of Aethens). She's considered a hero by those who live in Aethens, and her renown has even spread throughout Rynoa. So much that she even receives orders directly from Lord Kent II himself at times.

As far as personality is concerned, she's a very family/friend oriented individual. She values hard work, but she'll never deny a person's good-will. She prefers to stay away from leadership roles, because they normally don't get to fight alongside everyone (and the paperwork is terrible). Lumia follows from her older brother's example: loyal to her family, friends, and country but thinks with her head, not her heart. Typically, she gets scolded by her other brother, Leon (a premier merchant in Aethens), a lot because of her impulsive, non-economical buying decisions. However, they're very close otherwise. She also only kills out of necessity and tends to give wrong-doers a second chance (sometimes the judge, tries not to be the executioner). When not running around performing knightly duties, she's normally considered "enigmatic." It's hard to get a good read on what she's thinking, and sometimes her goals/objectives are hidden. Although, she is someone who's trustworthy (even though she's an enigma at times) and proactive.

Description/skills: A person who was once talented in horsemanship from a young age, but an accident that almost left her paralyzed from the waist down prevents her from riding today (psychological effects for those who are wondering).

It is said that she's the spiritual successor of the first generation of Dusks (those who were fierce-some in battle yet kind and diligent off). As such, since this is a family of much longevity, she was granted one of the family's many heirlooms, Ouroboros the grand shield, (one that is said to be able to withstand any blow) after being knighted by Lord Kent II.

However, she normally keeps it strapped to her backside during battle to cover her blind spot(s). This is mostly due to the nature of the "quests" she undertakes as a knight; ones that require her to travel alone.

At one point, she had a masterful grasp of sword mechanics and techniques, but Lumia, not wanting to stop at one weapon mastery, has recently picked up a new style: lance techniques. She refuses to pick up another sword until she has at least a master's grasp of lance fighting (and stubbornly so). Alas, she tends to be clumsy with her swings/thrusts, because fighting with a lance and sword are truly two different beasts.

Mission: At first hesitant to send any soldiers to aid the Springcliff Alliance, Lord Kent II finally conceded to Lumia's frequent volunteerism. While many believed she volunteered for glory and prestige as a knight and for the renown of her kingdom, her true intentions are unknown to the populace (and even to her king and family). Her closest friend and confidant, Hanna of the nine (a mage hailing from Corandine), has gone "missing" while studying in Praetoria on her annual "pilgrimage of the minds." (Hanna goes on a yearly journey to a different nation for a couple of months to study arcane artes and history. Lumia and Hanna write frequently, but she hasn't written or replied within the last couple of months.)

Will Lumia find her lost friend, or will she die with the truth veiled in the deep? And what of the mystery behind her hero of a brother?

Backstory: Elise grew up in a very quiet town with kind and understanding parents from a noble background. The Eindride family was well known in the town as the noble scholars who excelled in magic and crafting exquisite tombs. They were both academically based, focused on their studies in magic and expected Elise to do the same. For the longest time, she followed after her parent’s footsteps and studied to become proficient in magic and then slowly to excel like her parents did, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t become passionate in it. Fearful of disappointing her parents, she continued on with her studies regardless and hoped that something, one day, will spark her interest.

One day on one of her daily strolls towards one of the many universities her parents were employed at, she took a detour route and encountered a stall where all of the Pegasi were. As soon as her eyes fell upon the beautiful creature, she found what she wanted to do with her life. She then proceeded to drop all of her studies and save up enough money to purchase her own Pegasus herself without her parent’s knowledge of doing so. As soon as she was able to buy her Pegasus, Märchen, she enlisted herself into the military and then proceeded to inform her parents about her decision. Her parents were obviously displeased with her decision. They claimed that people of her noble blood shouldn't be spilling it all over the battle field so recklessly, and especially on an animal. As well as being concerned for her status, they were upset because she didn’t confront them about her change of occupation. She was only seventeen at that time, and they believed she wasn’t ready to handle the harshness of war.

Nevertheless, it was too late to turn back on her decision now, so her parents reluctantly allowed her to drop her studies and train in the military. Since Sharatan is a neutral country, she hasn’t experienced the brutality of war yet but continued to perfect the basics over, and over again. Previously being a scholar, all she knows about war is the romanticized version of it and dreams of having bards singing her heroic tale to come in the near future. Because of her naïve mindset about being a hero, she embarks on a journey towards Springcliff in hopes of achieving her dream of actually making a difference for others and not staying behind closed doors as she used to.

Hope. The word rarely unspoken or never at all, is what keeps Violette living with thoughts of one day gaining a better life; a life of ease. As a miner, because of her small stature she finds difficulty in heavy lifting loaded mine carts and even striking with a regular pickaxe but she is valued in the mines for the one special ability she can do. Since smaller holes are easier to acquire than larger ones, she is able to crawl into small places to retrieve rare gems. Despite being an orphan, Violette is determined to gain the unreachable freedom, a freedom not only for her but for everyone in this underground mine she has known to have lived in since birth. At times when her mining shifts have ended, Violette goes home to the orphanage, a small community shelter for children whom have lost their family in the dangers of the mines. The mine which lies beneath the City of Stone Saiph, is unstable and there are times when a section of the ceiling can collapse without warning because of poor support. Violette treats the children of the orphanage as siblings. She has lost her true siblings when a mining vein collapsed with them in it eight years ago. Since then, Violette began her thieving days to steal food to feed the mouths of the children. There are often times not enough food to accommodate to the growing numbers of children in the orphanage. Violette then learns the necessary skills to scavenge for food and eventually steal from those who have plenty but refuse to share. “Life is worth living, you just have to keep trying and fighting for your dreams so don’t ever lose sight of hope”, says Violette. She believes that life is a story where each day begins a new chapter.

Unfortunately, a day came when Violette was apprehended for being above ground, as she stole scraps from a noble’s waste bin. Being a second-class citizen she was to be executed on the spot until an upper class elderly woman had suddenly appeared in front of the house where the event has taken place and claimed her as her personal servant. The woman explained that she had always allowed Violette to rummage her waste bins for any item that may satisfy her kleptomaniac needs since she is definitely forbidden to take anything from the house. With this, the guards released Violette letting the elderly woman take her inside the house. Confused and shaken, the elderly woman without question or hesitation, allows Violette to take rest in one of the vacant bedrooms for the night. Violette finally finds herself and give thanks to the elderly woman after a long moment of silence. She repeatedly thanked the elderly woman in hopes of truly expressing how much she is in debt to her. She then tries to explain why she was always looking through her waste bins but the elderly woman says she understands and quickly hurries her on to sleep. As she confides herself in a room, she takes notice of all the family portraits surrounding one side of the room. Almost all pictures had the elderly woman smiling and emitting feelings of what once was happiness that ran through what seemed like an empty house now. The next day, the elderly woman had food prepared for Violette and a note telling her that she should depart for Springcliff that morning, to venture on for a brighter future. There was only one condition the elderly woman asks in return, a promise for Violette to come back to visit her with the children from the orphanage. It appears that the elderly woman, out of the boundless kindness of her heart, wishes to take care of the orphans as well since she had once had the house filled with her children. This unexpected turn of events builds up the hope in Violette as she heads straight up the path to Springcliff.

Right, if anybody wants to discuss how we'll handle the present situation (Namely, pulling Elise and Skye's arses out of the fire) then it'll be posted here to avoid flooding the IC thread.

I can think of three options at the moment:

1.) Talk to the Tribal leader and convince him to stop whatever he's planning.
2.) Bribe the Tribal leader into leaving Elise and Skye alone.
3.) Fight the leader and his archers. (Worst case scenario)

Good idea btw ^^ Um, I'd agree with the first option. Question them first then observe their behavior, even their expression when they response. If they make a move for a fight then a fight is what they'll get. I'd rather know what's really going on and get things straight first (in this case though, the little info they've given suggests that we should be on guard) than starting a battle that will cost our lives as well as theirs.
